Hawk Wasp

Whats small and black and eats tarantulas?

That's right you guest it, the Hawk Wasp. This wasp not only hunts spiders bigger than itself it also fight them straight on. They don't use some fancy trap or trick they just use key precision and technique to "kill" its prey. You'll see what a mean in a sec. More info below.

Hawk Wasps are found in many places around the world but mainly in desert landscape and grass lands. There are more than 250 species found in South America alone and their sizes are generally a couple inches but they can get larger. Before laying there one egg the female wasp may drink some nutrients from the tarantula itself to recover from the attack. They mainly feed of off flower nectar and are big contributors to pollination.  They aren't very aggressive towards humans but they have that coloration on their back for a reason, "back off punk".
