Beginning of Jellyfish Week: Immortal Jellyfish






That's right "IMMORTALLLLLL Jellyfish" ... mostly...





These guys are pretty amazing and I still don't fully understand what's happening but basically these guys can turn into babes whenever they want. There's a lot to be learned from their unique ability and scientists are going to be studying these guys for a long time. More info below.

The scientific name for this jellyfish is Turritopsis nutricula 
and it measures up to a maximum of about 4.5 millimeters (.18 in) and is about the same in its length and width. It was discovered in the Mediterranean Sea in 1883, but its unique regeneration was not known until the mid-1990s.
