Aardvark

I'm going to name my child Aardvark

It doesn't look like a real animal to me but it is. Their name comes from South Africa's Afrikaans language and it is translated as "earth pig". I would think its a pig too with that body and snout, but it also has other animal parts like big rabbit ears and a kangaroos's tail. Here's some videos about these guys. More info below.

Will explain the animal well

More footage of the animal

Can you guess what type of animal is in the cartoon?

Aardvarks belong to the Orycteropodidae family (Orycteropus afer). Aardvark's have a body of a pig but their skin is thick and they have no fat layer. They have ears of a rabbit and a snout of a pig with a kangaroo tail to along with it all yet they are not related to any of these animals. They have for toes on their forefeet and five toes on their hind feet that each end with sharp claws designed for digging.

Aardvarks are found throughout Africa south of the Sahara. They are nocturnal animals and sleep underground in their cool tunnels made with their spade like claws. When they go out to hunt they smell and listen for their favorite insects, ants and termites. When they find a promising mound of dirt they will dig through the hard outer shell and with their long sticky tongue pick up thousands of insects.

Their nose is able to close preventing dust and insects from getting inside while their ears stay backward hearing for any threats (like lions, wild dogs, pythons, leopards, and cheetahs). The Aardvark's thick skin protects it from any insect bites and acts as defense from any predators. When confronted with a predator the Aardvark will lay on its back to fight with all fours if it is unable to get in an underground tunnel.
